Teaching your students to determine the central ideas of a text? Are they getting stuck on providing an objective summary? This 44 page mini unit includes all you need to check for understanding of RI.7.2.
With this standards-based resource, students will have the opportunity to read 3 nonfiction passages and use passage prompts to analyze the development of two or more central ideas. Students will work with graphic organizers, subjective rewrites and a tree sketch activity to help determine the central ideas of the texts they read.
This resource includes everything you need to check for understanding, including a summative assessment with a rubric. All answer keys are also included.
This product is designed with 7th grade standards in mind, but many of the objectives can also directly align with the 6th and 8th grade standards.
