Parts of Speech Review Game Activity

When I use this resource, I use it as a game. We enjoy getting to guess each other’s person/character. The process is fairly simple; I’ve found the biggest challenge for the students is usually picking who to do. The students start by choosing who they want to do, then each student completes their brainstorming, and I check over their work. I make sure their grammar is correct and that their hints are strong enough to lead to the other students being able to guess who it is.

After I’ve checked over the brainstorming, the students complete their final drafts on the templates provided. We then alternate sharing our activities, and the students guess each other’s person/character. I make sure the students know that whoever they choose to write about is top secret because we want to be able to guess who it is. This could be used with silly characters, or it could be used for historical figures. There are many ways you can use this activity!

I have also used this activity as describing your pronoun to guess the antecedent if you’d rather use it that way. The students really grasped antecedents afterward.
