7.RL.2: Central Idea, Theme, and Summarizing – 7th Grade Common Core

Description

Teaching the ELA standards requires the teacher to break down the standard and make sure they are checking for student mastery in all the elements of the standard. With this standards-based resource based on RL.7.2, students will have the opportunity to read 4 passages and use passage prompts to determine the theme of each selection. Students will have extra practice with determining the central idea, analyzing the development of the theme/central idea over the course of the text, and writing an objective summary. This resource includes everything you need to check for understanding, including a summative assessment with a rubric. All answer keys are also included.
