Use these two digital escape rooms for spring and Easter to push through those last two weeks before break.
Are you ready for spring break?
Kind of a silly question, don’t you think? I have never known a teacher who, after a long winter, WASN’T ready for spring or Easter break.
We are exhausted. The students are getting antsy for some freedom and sunshine…
And yet, we need to keep them engaged for the last week or so before they leave for break.
One tool I love to use during these weeks when motivation and attention are at an all-time low is digital escape rooms. My students love the collaborative style of the activity and the challenge of the escape altogether.
Although escape rooms are quite popular as entertainment venues, they have also become quite an innovative tool for the classroom. A classroom digital escape room uses technology to steer the students through different problems and/or scenarios in order to solve a puzzle. Just like an entertainment escape room, the goal is to solve one problem, which leads to the next problem, and so on…with the ultimate goal of “escaping” the challenge.
In the typical classroom, “escaping” may mean unlocking a lock to a treat box, deciphering a code that earns free time, or simply solving a mystery phrase for bragging rights. Let’s be honest, middle schoolers love all three of these rewards. 😉

Noticing this growing trend in escape rooms, and feeling the need to come up with an exciting and attention-retaining activity before spring break, I was encouraged to make two escape rooms for the spring/Easter break season!
These escape rooms are academic, yet engaging…the perfect combo for the week before a long break!
Easter DIGITAL Escape Room – Figurative Language
As always, I made sure to create the digital escape room with common core standards in mind. Thus, students complete standards-aligned tasks in a collaborative space. This particular activity requires the following tasks:
- Task 1: Figurative Language Sort
- Task 2: Figurative Language Easter Eggs
- Task 3: Riddle Me This – Decoding Activity
- Task 4: Bunnies on the GO Figurative Language
- Task 5: Piece It Together – Puzzle Activity
All of the activities are super fun and sure to engage your students.
